Homecall of A. C. Hinton

We deeply regret to inform our readers of the sudden home-call on August 19th, of our highly esteemed colleague, Mr. A. C. Hinton, at the age of 66. Interested in ‘Precious Seed’ from its inception, he joined us nearly seven years ago and his help from that moment onward has been invaluable. Taking his responsibilities seriously, he not only gave us in wise counsel the fruit of long experience in the Lord’s service, but also undertook an immense amount of work, chiefly in conducting the Reports Section but also, for a while, in distribution. In keeping with his character everything was done with a thoroughness and exactitude which not only earned our gratitude but met with great appreciation from large numbers of our readers. As with his labours in other fields all was done, first and foremost, as a service for Christ, for his devotion was not a matter of sentiment but of clear and definite conviction, and intensely practical. In his article in this issue (‘The Man who Endured’) he has unconsciously revealed the secret of his steadfastness – God was real to his soul. This made him a man to be depended on – he knew what he believed, he stood by what he said, and what he undertook to do he did. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his widow, who was always his loyal and active helper in all his work for the Lord, and to his son and daughter, both married and both earnest Christians.
