The Potter

Be still, rebellious heart and rest!
The mighty Potter knoweth best;
Submitting to His sovereign will
His wisdom thou wilt learn. Be still!

Hath not the Potter o'er the clay
Power to perform what He may say,
One vessel unto honour makes,
Another to dishonour take?

Within the potter’s house He stands,
Working His work with skilful hands,
Forming the clay upon the wheels,
According to His own ideals.

All who own His sovereign rights,
Will find in mercy He delights,
Riches of mercy He makes known
To those who thus His honour own.

So now, O heart, be still and rest,
The mighty Potter knoweth best!
