This recent publication will be welcomed by all who take inspiration from the honestly recorded soul-searchings of great saints of God. Bunyan tells of his transformation from a foul-mouthed sinner weighed down with a sense of guilt before God, and fearful of eternal punishment to eager participant in God’s service. At his conversion and, thereafter, seeking to live for God in a hostile world, he found that Christ could meet his every need. The text of this edition has been modernised and this I found to be helpful, not affecting adversely the clarity and directness of Bunyan’s statements.
