While there are many books available on the interesting subject of the tabernacle, Maxwell gives his reasons for writing when he says, ‘this book will hopefully give a resumé of the pertinent truth and will provide an appetizer for the current generation to enjoy the study and application of God’s word on this subject’.

Starting at the court and the structure itself, DUNCAN MAXWELL unfolds the significance of each item within the tabernacle before considering the topics of the camp and its journeys and the priesthood. It is clear from the outset that the writer follows Strong’s interpretation although he acknowledges that ‘a few things were changed for practical or scriptural reasons’ and these are dealt with in later sections of the book. For those willing to spend time on comparing and contrasting the views on the typical teaching contained in such lines of analysis, there is a fruitful field of study. As there is so much of the person and work of Christ pictured in the tabernacle and its furniture, any book that seeks to whet the appetite of the reader and encourage to further meditation on these topics is to be welcomed.
