What an uplifting experience it is for us to read the testimonies of various of God’s servants who proved beyond doubt the unfailing support of their living God in situations where human resource was unavailable or had failed. Jabe Nicholson’s selection of candidates is most interesting and their stories cover a span of years ranging from early nineteenth to late twentieth centuries. The remarkable answers to prayer that are included establish beyond doubt that every possible contingency can be met by God’s sufficiency. The incidents that are quoted here to prove that this is so, never cease to amaze. Paul, that notable servant of God, living in testing times, and experiencing trial and persecution, wrote, ‘My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus’. We may rightly admire the faith of men and women of the calibre of those included in this collection and acknowledge the immensity of the sacrifices they made. They offered themselves unreservedly in service for God in situations of His choice. They for their part, would deplore any such adulation directed towards them, preferring to ascribe all glory to God for His unfailing provision that upheld their faith and met their every need. Indeed, ‘God is faithful’.
