Scriptures Sevens

This is an unusual but nonetheless fascinating and beautiful book that could provide hours of profitable meditation. Phil Coulson is to be commended for the idea and the effort of turning that idea into reality.

There is a great variety of teaching, from over 40 writers, that expounds the scripture as well as exhorting and encouraging the saints. Whilst there are some notable exceptions from the list of contributors, it is good to see the development of others who have not previously ventured into print. From all, there is material that will be to the spiritual blessing of those that read and consider.

For the present reviewer, it is a pity that the meditations that make up each day could not have been laid out on a single page and that the compilation could not have facilitated a more sequential reading of the scriptures. However, the provision of a detailed index of scripture references makes accessing truth on a particular passage helpful. Overall, these are very minor points and they do not detract from what is a worthy addition to this genre of book.
