The Fragrance of Christ in the Levitical Offerings

Paperback, 95pp. Published by Gospel Folio Press, 304 Killaly Street West, Port Colborne, ON, Canada L3K 6A6. Price £6.99 ISBN 978-1-897117-63-7

As the author says in his introduction, ‘The study of the Old Testament offerings is a fascinating way to enrich your spiritual walk with the Lord and to open your inner eyes to the multi-faceted aspects of Christ and His redemptive work on the cross’. This summarizes JOE PHILIP’s exploration of his subject as the book provides much of Christ on which to meditate and ministry that will challenge the believer in respect to life and testimony for the Saviour.

The book contains lengthy quotations from the scriptures on each of the five offerings to ensure that the reader is aware of the detail that the writer would draw upon in his treatment of each one. Similarly, the author is careful to establish the scriptural basis for every type of Christ indicated. In this way there is no attempt to strain either the typology or the application.

Whilst some may quibble over the author’s use of certain terms, such as God-Man, this is a book to savour and upon which to draw to direct our hearts to the Person of the Lord and His tremendous work at Calvary. There is so little on this most valuable subject and this reviewer possesses only three other books on the topic, so this book is to be welcomed.
